Vink Chemicals receives EU authorisation for grotanol® 3025 as a PT 2 disinfectant

Vink Chemicals has reached another regulatory milestone and has obtained EU-wide authorisation for grotanol® 3025 under the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) as a disinfectant of product type PT 2 for CIP and industrial surfaces.

The authorisation now granted covers the use of grotanol® 3025 for wiping and mopping, spray applications (such as in tanks), immersion, and the CIP (Cleaning-in-Place) process – in both clean and dirty conditions. Product type PT 2 under the BPR Regulation (EU) No 528/2012 covers disinfectants not intended for direct application to humans or animals.

Versatile for use in circulation systems and production facilities
With EU approval as a PT 2 disinfectant, users benefit from the versatile applications offered by grotanol® 3025. The product is a mixture of CMIT/MIT (3:1) (CAS No. 55965-84-9) and glutaraldehyde (CAS No. 110-30-8), and is characterised by broad-spectrum efficacy against bacteria, yeasts and moulds. The product produces very little foam, acts quickly and rinses off easily without leaving any residue.

Surfaces that can be disinfected with grotanol® 3025 include work surfaces, machinery, equipment, utensils, floors and walls, as well as the internal surfaces of pipes, containers, filling devices, mixers and other machinery. This makes the Vink Chemicals product suitable for use in the food and feed industries, as well as the metalworking fluids industry.

A holistic approach supports customers in implementing hygiene measures Another advantage of the Vink Chemicals product is its ease of use. Furthermore, the ready-to-use solutions of grotanol® 3025 are readily biodegradable and can be disposed of with ease. The disinfectant is part of a holistic hygiene concept in which careful selection of raw materials, cleaning and regular monitoring of the microbiological status all play a part. Vink Chemicals offers both biocidal and non-biocidal cleaners and supports its customers by conducting hygiene audits with the aim of, ideally, preventing any potential microbiological contamination. These steps are also part of the holistic hygiene concept.

The EU-wide authorisation underscores the need to have a safe disinfection product on the market.
